Obituary

Alice Hooper Jordan bloomed where she was planted.  She was the firstborn child of Earl Hooper and Harriet Sullivan Hooper on February 7, 1938.  She was always responsible and loved making her environment as pretty as possible, picking wildflowers and weeds as a teenager to make flower arrangements for their home.  After graduating high school, she attended MSCW, where she met a wonderful brown-eyed young man, Bill Dykes.  They soon married and lived in Flomaton, AL before settling in Kosciusko, MS.  She and Bill were always active in the Methodist Church.  When the church in Kosciusko began performing the Passion Play, she directed it and Bill was in charge of lighting and effects.  After Bill's death, she continued as director until 2005, when she moved back to Coffeeville and married Jason Jordan.  Again, she found her church home at the Methodist Church in Coffeeville and was involved in many aspects of church ministry until the time of her death.  In her last days she told everyone of her love for them and their need to be ready to meet their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at the Coffeeville Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Peterman and Rev. Stacy Douglas officiating.  Interment will follow in the Elam Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include a sister, Montez Hooper Love of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, William Earl Hooper of Vicksburg; step-daughter, Janinne Winstel of Utah; nieces and nephews, Tony Harper, Todd Hughes, Rusty Hughes, Nikki Shields, Heath Hooper, Dannette Hooper Hayes and Susan Bounds Atkinson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill Dykes and Jason Jordan and a sister, Betty Hooper Hughes.
