Mrs. Alvildia "Ms. Bill" James, 95, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born on July 6, 1921 in Florence, SC and was raised in South Georgia near Quitman. She married Byrd L. James of Gore Springs, a career Army officer and World War II Veteran and had a great life together. She enjoyed and loved her grandchildren, her garden and her kitty cats, especially Little Boo.
She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Methodist church. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Gerusha Armenti Gaymon Conyers; her husband, Byrd L. James and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Dr. Brent Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Gore Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a son, Bill James (Emily); daughter, Cheryl Grantham (Larry); five grandchildren, Jennifer Cheesar(Tony), John James(Erin), Beth Welch(Brad), Brad Grantham and Christa Cox(Trent); ten great-grandchildren, KellyAnne Martin, Brody Welch, Hannah Cheesar, Emily Cheesar, Lilly Cheesar, Cooper James, Fiona James, Phoebe James, Anna Claire Cox and Cade Cox; a beloved niece, Vicki Highsmith and nephew, Jimmy Watson.
Pallbearers will be Tony Cheesar, Trent Cox, John James, Josh James, James Tedder and Brad Welch.
