The Rev. Archie David Fleming, 84, of Brandon, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023.  He was born January 11, 1939 in Calhoun County to the late Archie W. and Mary Louise Turner Fleming.  He was a graduate of Clarke College.  He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.  Rev. Fleming felt a call early in his life to preach the gospel and did so for over 30 years.  He also worked on the mission field as a Missionary to South Dakota.  Rev. Fleming enjoyed riding motorcycles and mopeds and possessed the unique ability to ride a bicycle backwards.  He was deeply devoted to his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them at every opportunity.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Garden near Calhoun City.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service Thursday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Fleming; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth Fleming Thorn and John Thorn of Brandon; son, Michael David Fleming of Gore Springs; sister, Jan Scarbrough(Jim) of Derma; brother, Bill Fleming of Derma; six grandchildren, Stephanie Thorn, Eric Thorn, April Abel, Bridget Lamb, Emma Greer, and Nathan Braddock Fleming and a host of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Dewayne Fleming and a brother, Bob Fleming.

Kenny Brooks, Joey Fleming, Steve Flowers, Michael Lamb, Eric Thorn and John Thorn will honor Rev. Fleming by serving as pallbearers and carry him to rest in the Pinecrest Memorial Garden.
