Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Jean Vaughan Black, 86, of Carrollton, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Grenada.  She was born April 28, 1934 in Clarksdale to Bill and Jewel Ray Vaughan.  Mrs. Black was a devoted homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church – Grenada.  She attended Mississippi State College for Women and Mississippi State University.  An avid gardener, she loved to grow and share the fruits of her labor.  She was also a voracious reader and was always ready to discuss politics.  She also enjoyed oil painting.  Aside from her relationship with her Savior, Barbara's family was first and foremost.  She will be remembered as a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A private memorial service will be held to celebrate her life.

Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Black Fletcher(Cris) of Sardis; one son, John H. Black, Jr. of Carrollton; two grandsons, Joseph C. Fletcher, Jr.(Priscilla)  and Vaughan Fletcher; and two great-grandchildren, Fitzgerald Henry Fletcher and Wrigley Wells Fletcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John H. Black, Sr.; and a sister, Patsy Vaughan Keating(Larry).
