Barbara Jean Turner, 67 years old, of Coffeeville, Mississippi, passed away peaceful at home on August 16, 2024 as a result of liver cancer.

Barbara was born on January 31, 1957 to Howard and Estelle (Taylor) Phillips in Hernando, Mississippi. After Barbara graduated from Hernando High School in 1975, she went on to complete two years of college at Northwest Community College.

On June 11, 1977, Barbara married Danny Lee Turner of Coffeeville. They were married for forty-five years until his death in May, 2022. Although Barbara didn't have any children of her own, every child that she ever had contact with was treated as her own. No child ever came to her home and left empty-handed. Through the years, she cared for many children from the Coffeeville area, some from the time they were in diapers until they were 10 years old or older. Barbara truly cared for children. She didn't just watch them play; she educated them and disciplined them. Children were the love of her life.

Barbara was a faithful member of the Coffeeville Church of Christ. She was not only loyal to the congregation but an active and dedicated member in the work of the congregation. She served in any way she could, especially as a children's Bible class teacher for many years.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her sister Sandy Phillips of Hernando, Mississippi, and her brother Ricky Phillips of Nesbit, Mississippi. She is survived by her Sister Debbie Phillips of Florida and her brother Darrell (Guy) Phillips of Southaven, Mississippi.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2024 and services will follow at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service, 4817 Commerce St., Grenada, Mississippi 38901.  Burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery near Coffeeville, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization Barbara felt strongly about.
