Obituary

Barry Lamar Campbell, age 62, of Grenada, Mississippi went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 30, 2024. He was born June 6, 1962 to the late James Edward Sr. and Nolene (Roberts) Campbell.

Barry is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, LaRisa (Ward) Campbell, who was the love of his life. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his children, Christie (Roger) Austin of Holcomb, Lakela (Mark) Lancaster of Grenada, and Wayne Anthony of Grenada; grandchildren, Tristan (Kailey) Anthony, Peyton (Lana) Estes, Madison Bishop, Madelyn Anthony, Caleb (Jade) Estes, Nate Newton, Libbie Grace Anthony, and Dalton Sheedy; great grandchildren, Levi Anthony and Stetson Estes; stepfather, Walter Roberts; brother, James E. (Patti) Campbell of Greenwood; special cousin, Vicki (Joe) Pettus of Trenton, OH; and his furry companion, Ajax.

Barry was a proud veteran of the United States Marines, and a member of the American Legion post #106. He enjoyed tinkering with all things. He also loved vacationing and camping with his family and friends. If Barry wasn't working on a project, you could find him in his recliner watching westerns with his buddy, Ajax. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he was incredibly proud of. Barry had a heart of gold, and would do anything for anybody. He showed this in his love for the Lord. He and LaRisa were longtime, faithful members of Grenada Church of God. Barry served on the Church and Pastors Council for the past 13 years, and was on the church security team. He loved standing at the doors and welcoming everyone who entered with a hug or handshake.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Grenada Church of God. The funeral service will begin at 3 pm with Pastor James McElroy officiating, and the burial service will follow at their family's private cemetery near Bruce.

Tristan Anthony, James Burt, Claude Campbell, William Cummins, Peyton Estes, Mark Lancaster, Nate Newton and Joe Pettus will honor Barry by serving as pallbearers and carry him to his rest.
