Benford McGarrity, Jr. passed away at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS on January 22, 2021 due to complications from a head injury. He was born in Tallahatchie County on October 15, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benford "Pete" McGarrity and Floy Kerr McGarrity, and a sister, JoAnn Williams. He is survived by three sisters, Dot Baker and Rose Wilson from Grenada, MS, Maggie White (Bill) from Tupelo, MS, and one niece and five nephews. Benford graduated from East Tallahatchie High School and Northwest Junior College. He served in the Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired as an accountant from Modine (formerly Luvata) in Grenada. He was an avid football fan and hunter.

A graveside service only will be held at Grenada Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
