Mrs. Bessie Spence Lancaster, 96, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Providence Assisted Living.  She was born March 31, 1928 in Grenada County to Sam Austin and Ada Harbin Harris.  Bessie was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.  A voracious gardener, she loved tending to her yard and growing beautiful flowers.  Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. J. Barry Worrell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service Saturday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include her son, Keith Spence(Barbara) of Grenada; sister, Ledar Vance(E.B.) of Grenada; three grandchildren, Kim Daly, Elizabeth Taylor and Dennie Spence; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Dennie Spence and J.L. Lancaster; sister, Virginia Estes and brothers, Sam Harris, Jr. and Howard Harris.

Terry Bailey, Jacob Bennett, Todd Hood, Jake Miller, Dennie Spence and Wesley Taylor will honor Mrs. Lancaster by serving as pallbearers and carry her to rest in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
