BETTY BOWEN BENOIST

Betty Bowen Benoist, 86, gained her angel wings on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Nichols Rehab/Nursing Center in Ridgeland, MS.

Betty was born in 1932 in Grenada to Pauline Thomas Bowen and Tommy Gene Bowen. She graduated from John Rundle High School and attended MSCW. Betty married Max Edwin Benoist of Coffeeville in February 1951.

Betty used her talents to play the organ for church services for many years when she lived in Corinth (First Baptist Church) and in Coffeeville (First Baptist Church). While living in Corinth, she played the organ for many Tennessee Walking horseshows as horses paraded around the track to her lively music. Betty enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens as a pastime. In later years, she moved to Ridgeland to be near her only son.

Betty was a member of First Baptist Church, Coffeeville, and while living in Ridgeland, attended First Baptist Church, Madison.

Survivors include son, Edwin Benoist, of Ridgeland, twin granddaughters, Molly Benoist Eaton (Cole) of Madison, and Carrie Benoist McDill (Brad) of Gluckstadt; one sister, Gail Bowen Fore of Ridgeland and a nephew, Kenton Bowen of Texas.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Max, her parents; and one brother, Tommy Gene Bowen, Jr.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at First Baptist Church, Coffeeville, with visitation 12:00-2:00 p.m.; funeral at 2:00. Committal in the Coffeeville Cemetery will follow. Pallbearers are Tyler Wortham, Tyler Wortham III, Smiley Arrington II, Taylor Riddick, Bill Benoist, and Max Benoist.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to McKibben -Guinn Funeral Home, Grenada. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
