Mrs. Betty Selby Ruth 85, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Marks to Rena Cox and Grover Clinton Selby. Betty and her husband Fred Ruth owned and operated 6 Kentucky Fried Chicken stores in the Mississippi area including the franchise in Grenada.
Betty was an accomplished businesswoman having been in the Kentucky Fried Chicken business for over 50 years. She was an active member in her church in Grenada and a loving mother and grandmother. Betty was well known for her generosity and loving spirit and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Grenada with Rev. Danny Williams and Dr. John Boler officiating. Interment will follow in the Lambert Memorial Cemetery in Lambert. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
Survivors include her husband Fred L. "Pat" Ruth; one daughter, Donna Ruth Ackman of Grenada; one son Albert Alan Ruth, of Cave Springs, Ark.; and 6 grandchildren, Anna Ackman Winkler, Selby Ackman Turner, Patrick Allen Foote, Jackson Sterling Ruth, Reese and Riley Smith.
She was preceded in death by her son Fred Lawrence "Larry" Ruth Jr., her daughter Jan Ruth Foote and sister Maurine Selby Thomas.
Memorials may be made to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Pallbearers will be Jay Ackman, Bobby Biddy, Warren Cox, Bo Denson, Tripp Hawkins, Jasmon Smith, Cole Turner and Randle Winkler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Denson and Buddy Long.
