Mr. James L. "Bill" Hughes, Jr., 81, of Coffeeville, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.  He was born August 25, 1940 in Oakland to James L. Sr., and Grace Evelyn Denley Hughes.  Bill enjoyed a long career working for the Mississippi Department of Transportation and following retirement, owned and operated a lawn service in the Coffeeville area.  He was a member of First Baptist Church – Coffeeville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 31, 2022 at First Baptist Church Coffeeville with Rev. Truman Scarborough and Rev. Craig Baker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coffeeville Cemetery.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church – Coffeeville.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce Morris Hughes; sister-in-law, Myrtle Morris of Calhoun City and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Peggy Jo Morris; and brothers-in-law, Thomas "Goose" Morris and Dale Morris.
