William Newton (Billy) Ferguson, age 65, of Duck Hill, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Saturday, May 16, 2020.
Billy was born April 30, 1955, in Memphis to Sammy Gerald and Ann Newton Ferguson. He was a graduate of Grenada High School and Delta State University. Billy attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada.
Having an entrepreneurial spirit by nature, Billy was involved in a multitude of successful business ventures to include Satellite America, furniture manufacturing, movie rental, carpet and flooring, to name a few. His true calling was in automobile sales and management. One to never meet a stranger, he truly enjoyed serving his customers and getting to know them personally. Billy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Billy had an infectious personality and smile. He will long be remembered as a generous and loving brother, father, husband and friend and will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the Magnolia Cemetery near Coldwater with Rev. Josh Messick officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Ferguson; son, Warren Andrew Ferguson of Duck Hill; six sisters, Suzanne Shorter of Hazlehurst, Elin Juchheim(Dr. Max) of Grenada, Joy Portera of Brandon, Kathy Ferguson of Memphis, Dr. Patty Ferguson of Memphis and Jean Carpenter of Grenada; two brothers, Dr. Chris Ferguson(Christa) of Eads, TN and Sean Ferguson (Connie) of Jackson; an aunt, Mariglyn Meacham of Senatobia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Sammy G. Ferguson, Jr.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Bettie Hudgens Memorial Scholarship at Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.
