Mr. William Vernon "Billy" Meredith, Sr., 82, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. He was born August 14, 1941 in Grenada to Robert Lee, Sr. and Effie Hendricks Meredith. Billy, a man of unwavering dedication, retired after a 43-year-long career as a Supervisor at Heatcraft. He was not only an active member of Friendship Baptist Church but also a founding member of the Geeslin Corner Volunteer Fire Department, demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of his community. Billy's big heart led him to help others using his handyman and auto repair skills, a testament to his selflessness. In his spare time, he found solace in crappie fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 6, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Guy Hughes and Rev. Tim McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service Thursday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his daughter, Lee Ann Burger(Chris) of Oakland, TN; sons, William V. "Bill" Meredith, Jr. of Indiana and Jason Burt Meredith(Robyn) of Birmingham, AL; brother, Robert Meredith of Grenada; six grandchildren, Emily Meredith, Amaya Crichlow, Morgan Meredith, Corbin Meredith, Caleb Burger, Brayden Burger and one great-grandchild, Luke Meredith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Barbara Burt Meredith.
Chris Burger, Caleb Burger, Brayden Burger, Charles "PeeWee" Jones, Roland Shapley and Terry West will honor Billy by serving as pallbearers and carry him to his rest in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. Charlie Jones, Purvis Lane, Buzzy Revell, Matt Upchurch and Bobby White will serve as honorary pallbearers.
