Mr. Billy Ray Rutland, 87, of Grenada, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at his residence.  He was born February 23, 1934 in Covington County to William Ledrew and Bernice Harris Rutland.  He was a retired truck driver and honorably served our country in the US Army.  Mr. Rutland was a member of Providence Baptist Church.  He enjoyed watching football and spending time with his grandchildren.  While we mourn this tremendous loss, we find comfort in knowing he has entered Heaven and has been reunited with his precious wife and many others who have gone before him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Dr. Joey Faulk officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service Wednesday all at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Rutland Avery(Bobby) of Grenada; one son, Billy C. Rutland(Nora) of Grenada; two sisters, Mary Jo Ball of Wichita Falls, TX and Ruby Nell Smith of Madison; three grandchildren, Hunter Rutland(Gina) of Tillatoba, Jordan Rutland(Robert) and Ashlee Avery(Brady); and three great-grandchildren, Miranda Rutland, Amy Rutland and Wyatt Duke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Dowdle Rutland and a brother, Delton Rutland.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Avery, Sam Dowdle, Robert Duke, Brady Haynes, Hunter Rutland and Randy Welch.
