Mr. Billy Wayne Woods, age 93, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from his residence after a short illness.  Billy was born March 10, 1931 in Sweatman to Lura Belle and Robert E. Woods.

He graduated from Alva High School, Mississippi Delta Community College and served with the Army during the Korean War.  During his lifetime, he held several jobs yet worked primarily in the auto industry.  He retired from Earl McKay, Inc., as a salesman after many years.  Afterward he started his own business: Woods Blinds and Shutters and retired from this at the young age of 92.

Billy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Grenada.  He was an ordained Deacon, served in the Adult Choir for 40+ years, and served on various church committees.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2025 at First Baptist Church - Grenada. Interment will follow in the Winona Garden of Memory. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Thursday at First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Martha Swindoll Woods; children, Scott(Lea) and Debra Woods; brother, Joe Woods of Grenada;  three grandchildren, Raven Phillips(Wesley), Jared Woods(Mary Catelin), and Lauren Anderson(Richie); and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Woods.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church Choir Fund.

Pallbearers will be Bill Daly, Jerry Dinkelacker, Andy Hollingsworth, Wesley Phillips, Joe Sutherland, Steve Woods, Charlie Woods and Jared Woods.  Charles Davis will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
