Robert Douglas Staten (Bob), 66 years of age, a loving husband, father, brother, Pappaw, and friend, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, while working at his childhood home place in Holcomb, MS.

The visitation will be held at McKibben & Guinn Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Sunday May 21, 2017, at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the funeral at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, MS.

Bob was born in Grenada, MS on December 1, 1950. He graduated high school from John Rundle High School in 1969. He was married to Mary Marascalco Staten on April 3, 1970; they were married for 47 years.

Bob was a simple, generous man who lived a simple life. He was a lifelong farmer, truck driver, and contractor. A friend in Bob was a true friend indeed. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids; squirrel hunting; working on his antique tractors; and fixing up his childhood home place.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary, children Robby (Jennifer) and Greg (Kam), grandchildren Heather, Kasey, John Douglas, Gregory, Lee, Walker, and Rowdy, a host of nieces and nephews, and loyal dogs Toby and Kate.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother Ruthelle, father Lamar, brother John Paul, and granddaughter Sophie Grace.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to Le Bonheur, 848 Adams Ave. Memphis, TN 38103, in honor of his granddaughter Sophie Grace Staten.
