Bobbie Jean Logan Brewer, of Grenada, was born in Yazoo City on January 8, 1932, to Isabel Sadler Logan and Sumrall P. Logan. She married Thomas Carver Brewer on November 22, 1951.
A member of the Grenada High School class of 1950, Mrs. Brewer attended Grenada Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1953 and moved to California while her husband was in the Navy. After returning to Grenada, Mrs. Brewer began working for Dr. Gaines Cooke and later served as the Assistant Director of Nursing for the hospital. Most of her 40-year career as a nurse was spent as an instructor, first for the Nurse Aide Program at the Grenada County Hospital and then later for Holmes Community College in their program for Licensed Practical Nursing. Mrs. Brewer retired after teaching at HCC for twenty-five years.
She is survived by her children, John Carver Brewer of Big Piney, Wyoming, and Jean Brewer Grantham of Greenwood, MS. She has 2 granddaughters, Tonya Parkman (Corey) of Brandon and Myriah Brewer (Nathan) of Eugene, Oregon, and her great grandchildren, Nason and Logan Parkman of Brandon, MS and Keenyn and Meadow Davie of Eugene, Oregon.
Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Brewer, her parents Isabel and Sumrall Logan, her stepfather, G.H. (Buck) Liles and her brother, George (G.T.) Logan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Grenada with Rev. Rick Shepherd and Rev. Jack Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Grenada. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time Thursday at the church.
