Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Cooper "Bobbie" Vance, 92, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at her daughter's residence.  She was born April 24, 1930 in Webster County to Robert Lee and Clarice Dunlap Cooper.  Bobbie lived a full, vibrant life and enjoyed many years of serving the public as a cosmetologist and florist.  Bobbie worked as a beautician in Grenada for over 60 years – 54 of those years she was the staff beautician at Grenada Health and Rehab where she lovingly cared for and created strong bonds with the residents there.  She also owned and operated Grenada Flower Shop for over 33 years, during which time she taught Floral Design at Holmes Community College.  Aside from her work life, Bobbie was very involved in community activities and enjoyed being active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star.  Bobbie was an active and devoted charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada with Rev. Chuck Provine and Dr. Brent Barker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Sherry Vance Provine(Chuck) of Grenada, Freida Vance Easley(Roger) of Cleveland, Ginger Vance Toombs(Warren) of Grenada and Wanda Costilow Sparks(Richie) of Grenada; one son, Fred Hill "Freddie" Vance, Jr.,(Debbie) of Grenada; two sisters, Jerri Minga of Grenada and Mary Earl Mayhan of Olive Branch; eight grandchildren, Jason Provine, Barbie Provine Barton, Candice Fioranelli, Brandon Vance, Seth Sparks, Anna Grace Toombs, Haley Easley, Sam Easley, Candice Melton and Michelle Whiteside; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Hill Vance, Sr.; two sisters, Betty Bolen and Billie Costilow and two brothers, Robert Cooper and Walter Cooper.

Pallbearers will be Josh Mills, Dusty McKibben, Jason Provine, Seth Sparks, Brandon Vance and Hudson Williams.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Cohen Barton and Warren Toombs.

Memorials may be directed to the Baptist Children's Village or Emmanuel Baptist Church.
