Mr. John Andrew "Booker" Thomas, 95, of Grenada, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at his residence.  He was born January 9, 1929 in Charleston to Travis W. and Lily Mae Sullivan Thomas.  Booker worked for nearly 20 years for John Boyd Construction and another 23 years at Pioneer Beef in Grenada.  He ultimately retired from Pennaco Hosiery.  He was a devoted Methodist and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and yard work.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Stacy Douglas and Rev. Jim Petermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Sunday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Grubbs Thomas; two daughters, Andrea Janet Keith(Wil) of Baton Rouge, LA and Jennifer T. Turner(Bernard) of Grenada; sister, Minnie Mae Vick of Water Valley and two grandchildren, Bethany Turner(Justin True) and Heath Turner(Ariel).

Booker is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Mae Ellett Thomas; daughter, Brenda Gay Thomas; sister, Catherine O'Bryant and two brothers, Bill and Pete Thomas.

Carter Brandon, Keith Graham, Joe Snider, Harper Thomas, Bernard Turner and Heath Turner will honor Booker by serving as pallbearers and carry him to rest in the Oddfellows Cemetery.  Ronnie Merriman and Robert Philley will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to his devoted caregivers, Wanda Jones, Tasha Forrest and Linda Chrisman for the wonderful care and attention he has received.
