October 8, 1940 – March 20, 2021
Mr. Gerald Dean "Buddy" Lindley, 80, of Holcomb, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1940 in Tallahatchie County to Claude and Sammie Jewel Scallions Lindley. Buddy was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church at Oxberry where he had served as a Deacon for over 40 years. He enjoyed a 33 year career at Binswanger in Grenada prior to his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Buddy enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. While we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that he is healthy and happy in the presence of our Savior.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Stanley Turner and Rev. Larry Livingston officiating and Clint Livingston delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Oxberry. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service Wednesday all at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louise Lindley; one daughter, Wanda Lindley Livingston(Larry) of Holcomb; one son, Jerry Lindley(Michelle) of Grenada; three sisters, Glenda Coleman of Holcomb, Gloria Simmons of Charleston and Alice Rideout of Scobey; one brother, Bill Lindley of Holcomb; five grandchildren, Clint Livingston, Austin Livingston, Brooke Lindley, Lindsey Roberts and Jarred Lindley; and nine great-grandchildren, Brently Thornton, Ella Livingston, Luke Lindley, Cooper Livingston, Nolan Roberts, Kamdyn Lindley, Avyn Lindley, Bryler Thornton and Annistyn Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Janice Lewis, Peggy Birdsong, Sally Lowry and Mary Gladys Jackson; and two brothers, D.L. and John Lindley.
Pallbearers will be Terry Byars, Bill Lindley, Jarred Lindley, Austin Livingston, Clint Livingston and Matt Roberts.
Memorials may be directed to Bethel Baptist Church.
