Mrs. Elizabeth Carolyn Jaco Byford, 89, of Coffeeville, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.  Born August 14, 1936, in Coffeeville, Carolyn was the daughter of Vardaman and Belle Livingston Jaco. Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic, caring spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Carolyn began her working career with the Kellwood Company, where she worked for several years before joining the United States Postal Service. She faithfully served as a Carrier and Clerk, primarily at the Water Valley Post Office. After retiring from the Postal Service, Carolyn continued to share her talents and love for beauty with others as the owner and operator of Carolyn’s Flowers & Gifts in Water Valley and Occasions and Petals in Coffeeville.

Whether through her work, her creativity with flowers, or the way she cared for those around her, Carolyn left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She believed in working hard and doing things well, values she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren.  A faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church near Coffeeville, Carolyn found strength and comfort in her faith. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love, guidance, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of her family for years to come.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church near Coffeeville with Rev. Elbert McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Parker(Sonny) and Gail Holloway(Larry), both of Coffeeville; two grandchildren, Misty Holloway Edwards(Tim) and Kyley Holloway(Ingrid), both of Grenada; and four great-grandchildren, Erica Edwards, Owen Edwards, Hydi Rose Holloway and Kai Holloway.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Byford; and three sisters, Kate Koonce, Ann Barton and Louise Byford.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Steve Bailey, Dan Baker, Kevin Daniels, Andy Fly, Bobby Hopper and Ricky Koonce.
