Mr. Charles Edward Melton, 79, of Holcomb, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family. Charles was born December 24, 1946 to J.C. and Christine Fisk Melton. On October 3, 1966, he married Bobbie Scallions. They enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage and to this union, two sons were born: Charles Anthony “Tony” Melton and Ronnie Lee Melton.
Charles began his career at Lyon, Inc. and enjoyed a career that spanned over 47 years. Through all the name changes to Rockwell International, Randall Textron and Grenada Stamping, Charles stayed with the company. He enjoyed raising a garden and blessed his family and friends by sharing the fruits of the garden with them.
Above all, Charles was a man of God. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years. Whatever the Pastor asked Charles to do, he did it with a servant’s heart. We find peace that he is at rest with his Jesus now.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. William Tribble, Rev. Tim Winters and Rev. Taylor Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Holcomb Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bobbie Melton; son, Ronnie Lee Melton(Shelby); grandchildren, Megan Melton Todd(Dustin), Savannah Melton, Charlie Melton, Logan Randall and Kirbi Randall; great-grandchildren, Caleb Chrestman, Taylor Todd, Everette Todd and Kehlani Randall; sisters, Martha Harrison and Brenda Franklin; brother, Ronnie Melton; and a special great-niece, Isabel Rose Mullen, who loved her “Pa”. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved son, Tony Melton; sisters, Betty and Evelyn; brothers, Bob, Donnie and Jimmy; and in-laws, Freelon and Fannie Scallions.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Chrestman, Charlie Melton, Lee Melton, Chris Mullen, Dustin Mullen, Logan Randall, Shane Scallions and Wesley Scallions.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Ford, Billy Hand, Kenneth Harbin, Sonny Holland, Steve McCain and Melvin Taylor.
