IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte
Easley
March 20, 1947 – May 27, 2024
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Charlotte Faye Corder Easley, 77, of Porter, Texas, who entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, May 27, at her residence surrounded by family. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County. Bro. Trent Jaudon will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.
Charlotte was born on March 20, 1947, at Grenada Hospital, the daughter of the late James Corder and the late Audrey Shelton Corder. Defying doctors' expectations of a baby born with spina bifida, her parents, along with her loving sisters, taught Charlotte to walk and be a strong independent young lady. In February 1969, she met the love of her life, Jimmy Easley, at Reedy's Chapel Baptist Church where her father pastored. By August, they were married. Despite being told by doctors that she would not be able to have children, they welcomed a son, Shelton, in March 1971, and Michael in December 1975. Charlotte spent her life proving doctors wrong time and again. She and Jimmy spent 52 years together before his passing in September 2021.
Charlotte attended Holmes Community College and became a secretary for various businesses around Grenada. She also used her secretarial skills for the Grenada Chargers Marching Band from 1985 until 1995, while both of her sons, as well as her now daughter-in-law, were in the band.
Charlotte's faith was evident in her life. She would quickly share all that God had done for her. She was a longtime member of Elliot Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, church secretary and played the piano and organ at various times. When the couple settled in Texas, she and Jimmy became members of First Baptist Church Crockett.
She was welcomed into eternity by her adoring husband; her faithful parents; her loving sisters, Elaine Williams and Glennis Patton, and a host of family and friends that went before.
Those left to share her story include, her sons and "daughters" – she never referred to them as daughters-in-law – Shelton and Tanya Easley of Porter, Texas, and Michael and Tessa Easley of Crockett, Texas; her four grandchildren that brought her so much joy, Charlyn Easley, Melanie Easley, Audrey Easley and Jack Easley; her sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and James Woods of Grenada; her brother and sister-in-law, JR and Lori Corder of Blackshear, Ga.; her brother, Chris Corder of Grenada; her brother-in-law, Larry Patton of Grenada and numerous nieces and nephews whom she considered her very own. Whether you called her Charlotte, Granny or Lot-Lot, she loved each one of you with her whole heart.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Roberts, Craig Morgan, PJ Harville, Mark Fielder, Sam Marter and Brit Birchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Marter, Wayne Edwards, Charles Norris, Charles Vance, Eugene Lancaster, Jerome Funderburg, Mark Harville, Daril Norris and Mitchell Harville.
John 11:25-26~Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
