IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine
Goering
October 26, 1941 – November 19, 2024
Christine Breedlove Goering, 83, of Madison, MS, has gone to meet our savior Jesus Christ as she passed away of natural causes this past Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She had been ready for this day after carrying her cross of several serious medical conditions for many years.
"Chris", as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and a path of unwavering faith in God. She was a homemaker and piano teacher who enjoyed arts and crafts and spending time with her many friends, children and grandchildren.
Born in 1941, her childhood was spent in Coffeeville, a place she lovingly called "home". After graduating from Coffeeville High School in 1959, she would go on to further her education by receiving a Baccalaureate Degree in Music Education from Delta State University in January 1964.
After teaching for only a year in Hollandale schools, Chris would then move to Picayune where she taught in the city school system there for 3 years. It's there in Picayune, she met and married her husband Norm, Sr in August 1968, and would have her babies. While they grew up, she opened her home to teach students piano and voice lessons privately, her greatest passion in life.
She taught students proudly until her health conditions made her unable to do so in the late 2000's. It's then when she would return to her beloved Coffeeville to yet again be near her family and being a member of the First Baptist Church Coffeeville congregation, where she could enjoy praising Jesus through songs of praise playing the piano.
Begrudgingly, life would move her again in 2008, this time to Flowood with her eldest son and his new wife. It's then where she joined Flowood Baptist Church and became an active member. She enjoyed going each Sunday hearing Rev Ricky Gray and quickly making several loving friends, including her friend June whom she was able to move in with (and happily out of her son's sight) up until she required skilled nursing care.
Predeceased by her husband Norman Goering, Sr. of Picayune and sister Maxine Cox of Florence, AL. She's survived by her son Norman Goering Jr, his wife Carrie; son Kirsten (Kirk) Goering, his wife Misty, and their sons Christian and Zachary. Among them she also leaves behind her nephew Bob Cox; and nieces Sandra Johnson and Teresa Standard; her loving sister Jean Fly, along with nephews Jerry Fly and Jeff Fly; and nieces Renee Meyer and Rachel Mixon.
The family will receive friends for visitation this Saturday, November 23, at 1:00pm at First Baptist Coffeeville(14749 Depot St., Coffeeville, MS). We invite everyone to join as we celebrate Chris' life in a memorial service immediately following at 2:00pm.
Flowers are most welcome at this blessed event. Should friends desire instead, memorials of remembrance may be made in her name to the charity of your choice or if so inclined, to First Baptist Church, Coffeeville.
Although Chris' physical presence may no longer grace our lives, may her spirit continue to inspire and uplift us. Chris' passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Let her memory be a blessing, and carry her legacy of love in all we do. May God's love forever shine brightly in all our hearts as we remember.
