Mrs. Cynthia Gail "Cindy" Shields, 65, of Holcomb, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at her residence. She was born August 14, 1958 in Houston, TX to Edgar Cole "Sonny Boy" Shields and Barbara Ann Bennett Shields. Cindy worked as the Receiving Manager at Piggly Wiggly in Grenada for many years. She will long be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Bro. Raymond Jones officiating. Her grandson, Tristan Austin, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Friday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include her son, Roger Austin, Jr.(Christie) of Holcomb; daughter-in-law, Heather Austin of Elliott; sister, Linda Dabney(John) of Bessemer, AL; six grandchildren, Tristan Austin(Katherine), Audree Austin, Paige McKee(Andrew), Brooklyn Austin, Madison Bishop and Dalton Sheedy; one great-grandchild, Easton Wilson and her faithful feline companion, "Miss Kitty".
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Austin; sister, Nancy Shields and a brother, Wayne Shields.
Tristan Austin, Reggie Davis, Gage Kelly, Andrew McKee, Ethan Shields, Johnny Shields and Billy Whitsell will honor Cindy by serving as pallbearers and carry her to rest in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery.
