Mr. Claudie Clifton "Cliff" Chandler, 82, of Sumner, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood. He was born January 20, 1934 in Yalobusha County to Melvin Francis and Jennie Kate Shepherd Chandler. He was a member and deacon at Sumner Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran and a Mason. He was a retired farm manager and enjoyed being involved in the Yalobusha County Historical Society and Habitat for Humanity.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Sumner Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Hoes and Rev. Milton Whatley officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Sue Haney Chandler; one daughter, Cindy Whatley (Milton) of Meadville; three sons, Tony Chandler (Lisa) of Water Valley, Michael Chandler (Cindy) of Ridgeland and Mark Chandler of Meridian; six grandchildren, Aaron Chandler, Ryan Chandler, Hunter Elmore, C.A. Chandler, Mae McClish and Lizzie Chandler; three great-grandchildren, Ava Grace Chandler, Alice Chandler and Ezra McClish; and one brother, Herman Chandler of Longview, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jennie Mae Chandler, Kate Williford and Blanche Johnson and three brothers, Johnny Chandler, Melvin Chandler, Jr., and Francis Chandler.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Chandler, Lacey Booth Clark, Hunter Elmore, Mack Ely, Michael Ely, Mike Wagner and Patricks Weems.
