Mr. William David Gillett, 90, of Oakland, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford. He was born December 23, 1925 in Paris, FL to Lawrence and Ollie Mullen Gillett. He spent most of his working life traveling the southeast working in road and bridge construction. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Oakland Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 1:30 until 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jean Gillett of Oakland; one sister, Marguerite Kettle of Texas; one brother, Dennis Gillett of Texas; one niece, Christy Haynes and a nephew, Ray Haynes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bill Gillett.
