Mr. David R. Shiver, Jr., a beloved, husband, father, brother and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his Batesville residence on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. David was 67 years old. He was born July 15, 1959 in Frankfurt, Germany to David Renzo Shiver, Sr. and Olga Holzheimer Shiver. David followed in his father’s footsteps by serving in the United States Armed Forces and honorably served in the United States Air Force. A man with a strong work ethic, David enjoyed a career spanning over 31 years at United Chair in Bruce, then he spent the last few years of his working career at Winchester in Oxford. David enjoyed watching football and especially loved cheering on his favorite teams, the Washington Redskins and Mississippi State Bulldogs. He was of the Catholic faith.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Grenada with Fr. Joseph Thumma officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Shiver; son, David R. Shiver, III of Batesville; step-daughter, April Amanda Bracy of Dover, DE; sisters, Margareta Dotson(Donnie) and Yvonne Shiver, both of Coffeeville and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and a sister, Linda Geeslin.
