June 29, 1947 – September 28, 2024
Dennis Lee Proffer of Grenada, 77, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, with his daughters and sister by his side. He was born on June 29, 1947, and lived a full, vibrant life surrounded by family and friends.
Dennis is survived by his loving daughters: Denise (Jim) Butler of Celina, Texas; Ricki Jean (Jason) Hardin of Grenada, Mississippi; and Amber (Chris) Dungan of Grenada, Mississippi. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Dylan (Haley) Gretchokoff of Pilot Point, Texas; Luke Hardin of Grenada, Mississippi; and Hayden and Savannah Dungan of Grenada, Mississippi. Dennis leaves behind five siblings: Larry (Judy) Proffer of Hixson, Tennessee; Suzanne (Doug) Hensel of Lodi, California; Earl Earley of Southaven, Mississippi; Richard (Sherry) Wells, Jr. of Gulfport, Mississippi; and his baby sister, Vicki Earley Mason, also of Southaven, Mississippi. He will be remembered fondly by his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Grace Proffer of Grenada, Mississippi.
Dennis was a proud Vietnam veteran and a successful businessman, owning various enterprises, including restaurants, lounges, and his own tile and carpeting business. He was a true one-of-a-kind-someone who could make you laugh or have you fighting mad with just one sentence. Known for his quick wit and charm, Dennis loved playing the guitar and spending time in his favorite local spots, always ready with a story or a joke.
Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
