Obituary

Mrs. Diana McCrary Oakes, 77, of McCarley, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her residence. She was born April 21, 1940 in Tunica to D.F. and Floyd Yount Red. She had retired as a private duty sitter and was a member of McCarley Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at McCarley Baptist Church with Rev. Rupert Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in the Mission Cemetery near Winona. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at McKibben and Guinn and from 11:00 AM until service time Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Barrentine and Delorise Parson of McCarley; one son, Bobby McCrary of McCarley; two sisters, Maxine Patterson of Byhalia and Lillie Todd of Memphis; two brothers, Tommy Red of Strayhorn and Ruffen Red of Crenshaw; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Joe Don McCrary and Charles Oakes; one son, Rusty McCrary; two sisters, Sarah Chambers and Taffey Red; and one brother, Maurice Red.

Pallbearers will be Shelby Greer, Bryan Haley, Dustin Mullen, Chris Myers, Jimmy Nunn, Stevie Parson and Will Yates. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe McCrary, Jr., Christopher McCrary, Justin Reed, Kenneth Stone and Camron Veazey.
