Obituary

Miss Dorene Stewart, 91, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Providence Assisted Living.  She was born February 4, 1928 in Webster County to George Webster and Annie Doss Stewart.  She was a graduate of Wood College and retired as a Vice-President at Sunburst Bank after 31 years of dedicated service.  She was a devoted member of the Van Dorn Church of Christ where she served as bookkeeper for many years.  She was also a lifetime member of the Grenada Pilot Club and a charter member of the Grenada Legal Secretaries Association .

Dorene was an aunt's aunt. From endless sessions of pushing on the swing-set to trips to the 10 cent store, she made each of her nieces and nephews feel that she was "their" aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Marion Stewart and James Melba Stewart, and sisters Omalene Vaughan and Ruth Roberts.

Dorene is survived by her nieces and nephews: Dorothy Schmitz of Eupora, Donald Vaughan (Shirley) of Grenada, Ron Vaughan (Penny) of Tupelo, Dell Mitchell of Starkville, Jerry Roberts (Cheryl) of Vicksburg, and Rick Stewart (Carol) of Tallahassee, Florida; great-nieces and nephews: Darrel Schmitz (Donna) of Starkville, Paula Vaughan of Collierville, TN, Lauren Leslie (Harvey) of Grenada, Julie Summers (Richard) of Madison, Beth Muselwhite (David) of Grenada, Ronnie Vaughan (Barronee) of Tupelo, Shellie Mitchell of Huntsville, AL, David Vaughan of Gulfport, Brent Mitchell (Kristen) of Huntsville, AL, Justin Roberts of Vicksburg, Kerry Roberts of Vicksburg, Vanessa Stewart of Florida, and Daniel Stewart of Florida; and great-great nieces and nephews: Vaughan Stewart, Courtney Schmitz, Sarah Murphy, Ben Leatherman, Stewart Summers, Libby Summers, Bailey Muselwhite, Leah Vaughan, Joe Mitchell, Elizabeth Muselwhite, Emily Mitchell, Jack Leslie, Tyler Roberts and Crosby Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Darrel Schmitz, Ronnie Vaughan, Bailey Muselwhite, Justin Roberts, Brent Mitchell, Joe Mitchell, Stewart Summers, and Ben Leatherman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Leslie and Tyler Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Bro. Ken Salley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Saturday at McKibben and Guinn.
