Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Doris Jean Johnson, 96, of Grenada, MS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Doris passed from this life on May 19, 2022, into the arms of the God she served with joy.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Dr. Jim Nunnelee will officiate.

Doris was born on October 15, 1925, to Earl York and Elizabeth Gladys George in Ashland, Kentucky.

As the Lord's plan would have it, a young woman and young sailor from different worlds met on a train and the rest is history.  This was the beginning of a love and life that lasted 67 years.  She was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother.  She loved cooking for her family, sewing for her girls and loved all babies.  She always made a point to talk to every baby and young child that she saw while shopping.  She was a girl scout leader, Sunday School teacher and loved her First Baptist Church family in Grenada.

Doris was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, William (Bill) Johnson; infant son, William; daughter, Jane Win, and all her siblings.

Survivors include:  Daughter, Sharon Hopkins (Curtis) Flora, MS; Two granddaughters, Shannon Bomar (Richard) and Beth Ellzey (Chad); two grandsons, Bill Walters (Tiffany) and Matt Walters (Savannah); Eight greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials are directed to Baptist Children's Village.
