Mrs. Dorothy Jean Taylor Worley Simpson, 75, of Scobey, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Tallahatchie General Extended Care Facility in Charleston. She was born September 9, 1943 in Prentiss County to Cecil Robert and Myrtle Pearl Cole Taylor. She had worked for many years in her restaurant, Dot's 51 Diner, and later in life was a devoted home health caregiver. "Mama Dot", as she was affectionately known, was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2018 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Truman Scarborough and Rev. Joe Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in the Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in the Paynes Community of Tallahatchie County. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Sunday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include four sons, Roy. R. Worley(Dorothy) of Grenada, Herman Albert Simpson, Jr.(Sonia) of Grenada, Gilbert Simpson(Aletha) of Scobey and Jonathan Williams(Stacy) of Grenada; three sisters, Helen Buckley of Grenada, Bea McLain of Grenada and Betty Migliore of Kilmichael; two brothers, Curtis Taylor and Wayne Taylor, both of Grenada; nine grandchildren, Carrie Worley, John Worley, Jennifer Simpson, Karri Stroup, Lauren Simpson, Hayden Williams, Emma Grace Simpson, Lyllah Williams and Meadow Williams; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Albert Simpson, Sr.; three sons, Robert Earl Worley, James Thomas Worley and Willie Ray Worley; grandson, Jamie Worley; two sisters, Judy Williams and Nancy Sossaman; and a brother, Cecil Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Robby Clolinger, Michael Johnson, Carl Sykes, Franklin Sykes, Edwin Taylor and Chris Williams.
