IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dot
Proctor
August 4, 1927 – January 18, 2025
Mr. William Dotson "Dot" Proctor, 97, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025 at his residence. He was born August 4, 1927 in Bells, TN to Stylon and Olive Burns Proctor. At a very young age he found out by visiting some of his cousins that played music that he wanted to play music, too. At age 6 or 7, he begged his Daddy to buy him a guitar. He said by the time his mother had breakfast fixed he had learned to pick "You Are My Sunshine". This began a lifetime of a hobby that brought him much joy and many friendships.
Dot farmed in several states then built roads, turnpikes and bridges through several states as well. Throughout his life he still played music for his family. After he retired he began playing the mandolin again. Dot played with several bands and friends for nursing homes, benefits, festivals and churches. Dot loved God and his church family who were a comfort and support to him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Tim McCaffrey officiating and his nephew, Rev. Tony Proctor assisting. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service Thursday at the church.
