Mrs. Thelma Elaine Armstrong Smith, 91, of Grenada, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Grenada. She was born on June 8, 1934, in Coffeeville to John Wiley and Thelma Rae Armstrong.
Elaine led a remarkable and fulfilling life, dedicating over 50 years to a successful career as a real estate broker. She was the Co-Owner of UniSouth, Inc. in Grenada, where she found great joy working alongside her family through the years. A woman of strong faith, Elaine was a devoted member of the Van Dorn Street Church of Christ.
She cherished time with her family and found happiness in simple pleasures—especially card day with her close friends. Her grace, wit, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Jody Smith (Angie) of Grenada; granddaughter, Bryce Smith of Grenada; nieces, Jackie Griffis and Glenda Todd, both of Grenada, and Leslie Martin and Letitia Thomson (Craig), both of Jackson; and a nephew, Mike Hyneman (Lexann) of Gore Springs.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, John Smith; her twin sister, Eloise Armstrong; her siblings, Charlotte Hyneman, Mary Dee Shaw, Denton Armstrong, and Pete Armstrong; and two nephews, Steve Shaw and Tony Shaw.
A private memorial service will be held. Elaine will be laid to rest beside her husband at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
