Mr. Elmer Owen Dabney, 86, of Hernando, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his residence.  He was born Wednesday, January 2, 1935 in Lake City, TN to Otis and Marie Harris Dabney.  Mr. Dabney enjoyed a career spanning 25 years with Texas Gas Transmission as an Electrical Specialist.  Elmer honorably served our country in the United States Navy.  He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed collecting coins.  Elmer enjoyed worshiping the Lord at Jackson Chapel Church in Hernando.  While we grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing he held in his soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus Christ.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Spring Hill Cemetery near Grenada.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Nell Dabney; one daughter, Marie Armistead of Tuscaloosa, AL; one sister, Rainey Faye Boyle(Byron) of Indiana; one brother, Joseph Dabney(Barbara) of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren, Donald Joe Bradford, Amanda Bradford Reed, Reece Key, Brooke Armistead, Eric Jones Armistead, Sandra Holliman, Matthew Meador, Rebecca Bowling, Meagan Pearson, Emily Crouch, Wendy Hale, Maggie Pugh and Ben Meador; and a host of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Wayne Meador and Mike Meador; two sisters, Margaret Dabney and Ann Gillliam; seven brothers, George, Ben, Jack, Junior, Paul, Lowell and O.L. Dabney; and two grandsons, Christopher Meador and Michael Meador, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Elijah Clements, Sebastian Crouch, Allen Gillis, Tim Gillis, Brian Hale, Blake Pearson and Rob Pugh.
