Mr. Elwood Stanton Bright, 78, of Grenada, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at Merit Health – Central in Jackson. He was born December 5, 1937 in Cleveland, MS to Dallas Elwood and Loie Belle Stanton Bright. He attended Mississippi State University and was a retired farmer and real estate broker. He was an expert fisherman on Grenada Lake and a lifelong Bulldog fan. Restoring Ford tractors was his hobby in retirement. Elwood was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 12, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Grenada with Rev. Tom Potter and Rev. J.C. Hubbard officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in the Indianola City Cemetery at 3:00 PM with a gathering of family and friends to follow at First United Methodist Church in Indianola.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Leverette Bright; two daughters, Sandra Patterson and her husband Dean of Southaven and Cynthia Everitt and her husband, Cass of Austin, TX; one brother, Glenn Bright and his wife, Judy of Doddsville, MS; and five grandchildren, Carlyn Patterson, Noelle Patterson, Cameron Everitt, Logan Everitt and Luke Everitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bryn Bright.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Andrews, Dallas Bryn Bright, Brian DeNicola, Justin DeNicola, Tommy Ford, Casey Myrick and Jonathan Thomas.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Grenada or Indianola or the charity of the donor's choice.
