Harry Erwin Cook
Erwin Cook was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord. His life was defined by his love for his family, his dedication to his church, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
Erwin was married to the love of his life, Sue Cook, for 33 wonderful years. He also dedicated 24 years of service as a supervisor at SuperValu, where he built relationships and made an impact through his years of hard work and commitment.
Above all, Erwin loved the Lord and devoted much of his life to serving Him. He served as a deacon at Mission Hill Baptist Church for 13 years and was dedicated to the church throughout his lifetime. His love for music led him to serve as music director at various churches over the years. He also had a heart for ministry beyond the church walls, spending time ministering to individuals in jails and sharing the love and grace of God with others. His faith was not simply something he believed in; it was something he lived every day.
Erwin was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lois Cook; two sisters, Ann and Joy; a son, Bruce; and a daughter, Brenda.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 33 years, Sue Cook; his two sons, Art (Konnie) Hicks and Ronnie (Jay) Hicks; and his three daughters, Penny (David) Hammont, Sandra (Tony) Prescott, and Debbie (Scott) Montgomery. He also leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy and pride.
Erwin’s life was a testament to faith, family, hard work, and service to others. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the generations of family who loved him and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 8, 2026 at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Joey Faulk and Rev. Scottie Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until service time Sunday at Providence Baptist Church.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Trent Goss, Max Montgomery, Will Smith, Andrew Montgomery, Justin Hicks, Chad Wiltshire, and Sam Pigott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Blakely, Wesley Goss, Stefan Montgomery, Caleb Hicks, and Johnny Prescott.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the faith he lived will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
His earthly journey has ended, but his eternal homecoming has begun. What a blessing it is to know that he is now resting in the arms of the Savior he spent his life serving.
Well done, thy good and faithful servant.
