Mrs. Ethel Herndon, 89, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 8, 1925 in Grenada County to Simon Teal and Nannie Viola Costilow Perry. She was retired from BellSouth Telephone Company after 34 years of service and was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers and CWA. Mrs. Herndon was a member of First Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2015 from the Chapel of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Pullen (Dan) of Grenada; a son, Billy Herndon of Oxford; three grandchildren, Bethany Clemons of Grenada, Davis Herndon (Claire) of Germantown, TN and Courtney Eaton of Gulfport; three great-grandchildren, Perry Clemons of Grenada, Emery Eaton of Gulfport, and Lundy Herndon of Germantown, TN; two sisters, Shirley Pyle (Jimmy) of Grenada and Catherine Waldrop (Roy) of Baytown, TX; one step-daughter, Peggy Willis of Columbus; two step-grandsons, Michael Herndon and Toby Herndon both of St. Petersburg, FL; two step-granddaughters, Jeanne Hudson and Pat Breaux both of Columbus, MS. She was Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene Herndon, Daughter Carrie Ethel Herndon and a step-son Freddie Herndon.
Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church – Grenada.
