IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Faye
Tipton
October 24, 1939 – March 30, 2025
Alice Faye Tipton was born on October 24, 1939, the third child of Mayo and Lola Chason. Her dad picked out her name after a famous actress/singer (Alice Jean Leppert) whose stage name was Alice Faye. In 1939, Faye was named one of the top ten box office draws in Hollywood. When Faye was three years old, her father died. Not long after his death, the song, "You'll never know," was introduced in the 1943 movie 'Hello Frisco, Hello' where it was sung by Alice Faye. The song won the 1943 Award for the Best Original Song.
Her children and those who knew her well would say there was always a hole in her heart of missing out on having his hugs and kisses and living with the feeling of "I will never know my dad." We do not know what her dreams and ambitions were, what plans she had in mind for herself as she grew up, where she wanted to visit or what she might have become had things been different. But the hardships and enduring testimony of a faithful God were some of the ingredients that made Alice Faye the wonderful person she was. Sure, there are many things we do not know, but there are some things we do know. We know that she loved God with all of her heart. We know that she enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a surrogate mother or grandmother to those in need who have been blessed enough to have entered her life.
December 27, 1962. Alice Faye prepared herself for this day. She surrendered herself completely to the carpenter's son from Nazareth when she was gloriously filled with His Spirit. Today, we are all beneficiaries of her unwavering faith. The apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 3:2, "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men."
Time will not allow us to share her challenges as a child that built into her strength and courage with gentleness, tenderness and great unselfishness. A remarkable willpower and irrepressible liveliness.
Alice Faye married the love of her life, David (Bud) Tipton, Sr. on October 22, 1955. Born to this union were four children: David Tipton(Gwenda) of Grenada, MS, Steve Tipton of Grenada, MS Ricky Tipton (Sandra) Gore Springs, MS and Dallas Faye Arne (Gary)Panama City Beach. Fl. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, JoAnn Goins of Albany, GA and two brothers, Bobby Capps of Panama City, FL and Billy Capps of Altha, FL.
