Obituary

Francis "Frank" Louis Accardy left his body and entered into the glorious presence of God on May 18, 2021. He was six days away from his 86 th birthday and 3 weeks away from his 58 th wedding anniversary.

Frank was born in Queens, New York on May 24, 1935 to Francis and Veronica "Grace" Accardi.  He is survived by his wife Frances "Fran" Blake Accardy whom he married on June 8, 1963 and to whom he remained a faithful husband until his death, and his sister Mary Ann "Ann" Maggi.

He had three sons, Christopher, Matthew, and Andrew. His son Matthew passed away as an infant. Besides his wife Fran and sister Anne, his surviving family is: Chris and his wife Shelley, their daughters Elizabeth Accardy and her daughter Carter Leigh-Anne, Hannah Accardy, Beth Siano and her husband Noah, and a son Matthew Blake and his wife Kiah and son Sterling; Andrew and his wife Melissa, and their daughter Jocelyn and sons Camden and Paxton.  He is also survived by four nephews, Joey, Steven and Jay Maggi and their families, and Michael Poll and his family.

He was "Pops" to his sons, "Papa" to his grandchildren, and "Bebop" to his great-grandchildren. All of his children and grandchildren profess faith in Jesus Christ.

Frank earned a Bachelor's degree from Gordon College, Master's of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Western Seminary. He is the author of the book All Things New and numerous articles in publications such as the Alliance Witness, Good News Broadcaster, and the Presbyterian Journal.

He began his ministry career with High School Evangelism Fellowship in 1953. He spent most of his early ministry years working with the New England Fellowship of Evangelicals, who at the time were a network of about 1,000 Bible-believing churches in the New England region. In 1957 he had an opportunity to share his testimony at Billy Graham's Madison Square Garden crusade. He was ordained at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas in 1961. After seminary Pastor Frank served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Springfield, Vermont (1964-1966); Calvary Baptist Church, Manchester, New Hampshire (1967-1975); Emmanuel Baptist Church, Olympia, Washington (1975-1985); Bible Baptist Church, Saco, Maine (1997-2001), and Evangelical Baptist Church, Laconia, New Hampshire (2001-2007). From 1985-1996 he served as the Executive Director of the New England Fellowship of Evangelicals.

He served on the Board of Trustees of Southwestern Bible College (now Arizona Christian University) and Cross Currents International Ministries and was President of the Washington Conservative Baptist Association and Chaplain to the Washington State Senate.

In his spare time Frank loved to paint, write, play and compose music on his guitar.  He loved horses and fishing, and had an infectious, and winsome sense of humor.

Thousands came to faith in Jesus Christ through his ministry and hundreds entered vocational ministry under his leadership. Up until the week before his death he was mentoring several young men. Despite all of his accomplishments in ministry he lived by the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:8-11: "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead." Jesus saved Frank as a teenager and accomplished His purposes for His glory in his life. He bears testimony to the power of the Gospel to transform lives.
