Gail Bowen Benscotter Fore

Gail left her earthly home in Ridgeland, MS on December 23, 2018 to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ and her loved ones in Heaven. She completed the transition from here to Glory in complete peace of mind and body.
She was born on October 16, 1940 in Grenada, MS to Tommy Gene Bowen, and Pauline Thomas Bowen. She graduated from John Rundle High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi College. Gail began her working life teaching school in New Orleans, LA. She later entered a career as an accomplished and successful professional businesswoman managing large Malls in both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA.
Gail was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Lewis Benscotter. Lew was the pilot for Louisiana State University whose plane crashed over the Atlantic Ocean never to be recovered.
She enjoyed working in her yard and growing gorgeous flowers. She later moved to Ridgeland, MS to be nearer her family. Over the years in Ridgeland Gail entertained her childhood friends, the Grenada Girls, as she referred to them, many times. Gail was a lifetime Southern Baptist.
Gail was "cat person" and had many beloved cats for pets throughout the years. Her childhood pet was Mrs. Fluffy who lived to a ripe old age. Next was Buffy in Baton Rouge who lived many years also. There was a beautiful cooing dove, Dovie, inherited from a friend who had dementia. Dovie flew around the house and rode on Gail's shoulder when he wasn't caged. He provided a lot of pleasure for Gail. Gail and Dovie spent many an hour on her patio admiring her lovely flowers. Freddie, her dear cat companion during these last years, remained by her side until she left us. She entertained herself and her friends by telling many lively "Freddie stories" whenever we spoke with her in person or the telephone. It became the main topic of interest to find out "what Freddie had done now"!
Many faithful caregivers were with her throughout these last years seeing to her every need. Her devoted, dedicated, loving caregiver and best friend, Sarah Gray, saw night and day that her care was as it should be so that her quality of life could have all the comfort and serious care as was possible. Oxford Health Care Director, Deann Gibson worked many hours searching for the best caregivers for Gail. Loretta Powell , her committed caregiver, stayed by her side as she drew her last breath. Baptist Hospice nurse, Summer Smith, RN and Rachelle Johnson , Nurse's Aide were diligent in their duties of caring for Gail. Appreciation also goes to Baptist Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, Madison Home Care, Baptist Physical Therapy and Ridgeland Fire Department for always carrying out their duties properly. The kindness in the treatment Gail received from Dr.Jeffry K. Leduff and staff is esteemed with high regard.
Survivors include two nephews, Edwin Benoist of Ridgeland and Kenton Bowen of Texas, twin great-nieces, Molly Benoist Eaton of Madison and Carrie Benoist McDill of Gluckstadt.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 29, 2018, 12:00 at Mckibben-Guin Funeral Home in Grenada, MS, with services conducted by Dr. Jim Nunnelee to follow at 1:00. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers are Clarice Townes Miller, Martha Grant Burnett, B. J. Oliver Smith, Kathryn Spraberry Garner, Sarilea Deaton and Mary Lee Simmons Boutwell, Maxine Hoffa Roachelle, Judy Bain Williams and Myrna Martin.
Memorials may be made to Mississippi College or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
