Mr. George Curtis Blakely, 84, of Coffeeville, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at his residence.  He was born June 7, 1939 in Grenada County to Rufus and Annie Anderson Blakely.  George enjoyed a 42-year career at Heatcraft in Grenada and treasured the many friendships he made with his co-workers.  A faithful Methodist, he was proud to tell anyone that Rev. Johnny Dinas baptized him and wanted everyone he encountered to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.  A true sports enthusiast, he loved to keep up with all Mississippi State Athletics as well as the St. Louis Cardinals.  In his earlier years, George enjoyed officiating basketball games in the Mississippi Private School Association.  An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.  George will long be remembered as a man who loved the Lord, his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Janie Mortimer and Bro. Ken Salley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Family and friends will gather from 12:00 noon until service time Thursday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife, Faye McCalop Blakely; one son, George Blakely, Jr. of Grenada; grandchildren, Kurt Blakely and Kayla Franklin(Kyle), all of Grenada; a great-granddaughter, Kimber Franklin of Grenada; sister, Minnie McMinn(Bill) of Coffeeville and sisters-in-law, Joan McDaniel and Glenda Sides.

George is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Frances Denley, Earline Harris, Bertha Inman, Annette Sanders, Beulah Hubbard and Lottie Toole; and brothers, John Blakely, L.D. Blakely and Herbert Blakely.
