Mr. George G. Harrison, age 85, died Monday, June 6, 2022 at his home in Coffeeville, MS. He was born November 7, 1936 to Ray and Emma Sue Harrison. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. George was a former board member of the Department of Mental Health for the State of Mississippi for 21 years, where he served as President for three terms. He was a former member of the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities and on the State Plan Advisory Council. George was very active while a member of the Friends Organization of North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford. There he served as President and Vice-President through the years. George honorably served our country in the US Army. He worked at Heatcraft as Production Superintendent where he retired after 41 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2022 at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elsie; a son, Andy and his wife, Sandy; sister, Johnnie Sue Rogers and husband, Jesse; foster son, Odie Scott and wife; five grandchildren, Brandi Williams(Kenneth), Brandon Harrison(Kandice), Jessica Frazier(Lance), Nikki McDonald(Geoff) and Jacob Brown; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, LaTania Harrison and brother, James Ray Harrison.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Brown, Brandon Harrison, Brad Kilgore, Hoyt Logan, Charles Parker and Barry Rounsaville.
Memorials may be directed to the North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford or the charity of the donor's choice.
