Mr. Gerald Wallace Carpenter, 77, of Grenada, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was born March 28, 1940 in Belzoni to Wallace Rush and Moselle Miller Carpenter. He had a long career in accounting with Farmland Industries, was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Reserves Veteran.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Dr. Brian Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Grenada Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruth Purdie Carpenter; one daughter, Amy Carpenter Davis and her husband, Mac of Clinton; one son, Jay Carpenter and his wife, Sara of Madison; and five grandchildren, Nathan, John Mackey, Daniel, Evan and Rachael.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Earline Smart and Laeuna Boswell and a nephew, Gary Smart.

Pallbearers will be Jake Granger, John Granger, Ben Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, Ellis Purdie, Will Purdie and Jared Rogers.
