On Saturday, December 26, 2020, Gwen Hodges, surviving wife of John Hodges and avid animal lover, passed away at the age of 72.

Dorothy Gwen was the oldest daughter of Dot and J.W. Parker who preceded her in death as did two sisters, Cathy Parker and Lynn Parker Stewart.  Gwen has one surviving sister, Debbie Rouse.  She leaves four step sons, Gerald Faucher of Olive Branch and Kenneth Faucher of Texas as well as Kevin Hodges of Nashville and Steven Hodges of Florida.  She also leaves one nephew, John Walter Stewart and four nieces, Amy Dinkelacker(Walt), Ryan Williams(Coot), Christina Kunefke(Lee) and Robin Harrell.  Gwen also had eight great nephews and 1 great niece that brought her tremendous joy.  Gwen also leaves cherished neighbors especially Kenneth and Suzette Ashmore.

Gwen graduated from MSCW in 1971 and worked several jobs but spent most of her working years with Michelin Tire.  Her husband, John, also worked for Michelin which took them to several different areas to live including Memphis, Baltimore, Maryland and Greenville, South Carolina.  She had retired to live here in Grenada near family.

As Gwen was an avid animal lover, she rescued countless animals, particularly cats, in her lifetime.  Gwen also enjoyed her home and diligently worked in her yard.

In keeping with COVID restrictions, Gwen's ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband on January 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM at a small graveside service at Gore Springs United Methodist Church in Gore Springs, MS.
