Harold Edward "Hal" Martin, 69, of Grenada, Mississippi passed away at home, Monday, April 24, 2017, after a brave fight with cancer.
After graduating from Red Bay High School in Red Bay, Alabama, Hal served in the United States Air Force, serving a tour in Vietnam.
Upon returning from service, Hal's military experience led him to a career in Law Enforcement. He worked with the Biloxi Police Department before joining the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics as an undercover agent. He then served as Mississippi Boat and Water Safety Commission Water Patrol in the Grenada area. Later, he was the owner/operator of Grenada Honda Shop with his wife of 37 years, Ms. Sophia McKnight Martin.
Hal has been a loyal employee to Sunset Chrysler Dodge for the last 7 years.
He was an active member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and beloved Sunday School Teacher. He was also a Gideon.
Anyone who knew Hal knows he was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide Football, and knew of his passion for his Tennessee Walking Horses throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 – 3:00 PM and the service will follow immediately in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ms. Sophia McKnight Martin; his children, Todd Martin(Terri), Jay McAdams(Kelly), Amy McAdams(Lorrie); 2 sisters, Wanda McNeil(Sherrill) and Debbie Wiggins(Nicky); 2 beloved grandchildren, Bryan McAdams and Taylor Anderson(Andrew); 2 great-grandchildren, Kasen and Kolt Anderson; one sister-in-law, Frenchie Graham(Buddy); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward Martin and Juanita Martin Baker.
