Obituary

Mr. Harold Ray Bowen formerly of Greenwood, MS went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2023. He was born on September 27, 1941 in Gore Springs, MS to the late John Willie and Hattie Bowen. He graduated from John Rundle High School in Grenada, MS before attending the University of Mississippi graduating with a degree in banking and finance. He received a Masters degree from the Louisiana State University School of Banking.

Harold was president of the First Greenwood Bank and active in the community, including the Rotary Club. He was the epitome of a southern gentleman with a great number of friends and acquaintances. He was loved by all and never met a stranger. Harold was a passionate fan of the Ole Miss Rebels as well as a past president of the Alumni Association.

He was predeceased by his parents and eight siblings. Mary Bowen, James Bowen, Bennie Hemphill, Jeff Bowen, Ouida Bowen, Bette Branscome, John Willie Bowen, Jr and Faye James.

He is survived by his daughter Alisa Bowen Jernigan (Steve) of Opelika, AL, grandchildren Jonathan Bowen Jernigan of Raleigh, NC, Jason Liu of New York City, NY, Rebecca Stith (Christian) of Raleigh, NC, Ashley Hatley (Joseph) of Burlington, NC as well as his sister Christine Hales (Lyn) of Vicksburg, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 2pm at Providence Baptist Cemetery in Gore Springs, MS.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
