Obituary

Mr. Harold L. "Hard Luck" Horton, 84, of Grenada, passed away peacefully on January 05, 2022, in Huntsville, AL with his family by his side.  He was born May 03, 1937, in Quitman County, MS to Harry Lee Horton and Nora Youngblood Horton.  Raised in Grenada County he moved with his family to Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1953. At the age of 18, he entered the U.S. Navy and devoted the next twenty years to his country serving in Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guantanamo Bay, Scotland, Turkey, Rhode Island, and Florida. After retiring in Pensacola, Florida he returned to Grenada and spent the rest of his career servicing his community in the auto sales industry. He loved and embraced his customers and took great pride in assisting generations of families who continued to reach out to him even after his retirement. Prior to his failing health he was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 8th at 11:00 AM at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada, Mississippi officiated by Rev Barry Worrell. Interment will follow at Grenada Memorial Gardens.  Family will gather for visitation at 9:00 Saturday until service time at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Rexing and son-in-law Hank Rexing (of Madison, AL), Susan Bodet and son-in-law Harvey Keith Bodet (of Jasper, TN), and Jennifer Moore of Grenada, MS; seven grandchildren, Brittany Kloth, Kacey Brossman, Matthew Bodet, Megan Lloyd, Shelby Moore, Nathan Moore, and Stewart Moore; and seven great- grandchildren, Jase, Payton, and Blakely Kloth, Landon Bodet, Addilyn Lloyd, Connor and Jack Henry Brossman, four siblings, Barbara Woods of Grenada, Brenda Tilghman of Tupelo, Debra Burt Davis of Texarkana, Texas, and Don Horton of Foley, Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Horton, Father, Harry Lee Horton, Mother, Nora Youngblood Horton, and sister, Martha Honeycutt.
Pall Bearers include Hank Rexing, Keith Bodet, Matthew Bodet, Nathan Moore, Stewart Moore, Tim Kloth, Jerry Brossman, Lucas Lloyd, and Hayden Jackson.
