Obituary

Mrs. Hazel Eugene Hendrix Ferguson, 93, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Yalobusha General Nursing Home.  She was born October 6, 1928 in Yalobusha County to Will and Lola Koonce Hendrix in a small cabin on Choctaw Road at what is now Grenada Lake.  Hazel was a certified nursing assistant and also was a longtime employee of Kellwood.  She was a faithful and devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Coffeeville.  Hazel loved to sew and made her own clothes and those of her niece, Cathy.  She also loved to sing and taught Cathy to sing as well.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church near Coffeeville with Rev. Tim Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the Clear Springs Cemetery in Yalobusha County.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her niece, Cathy June Pounds DeLuca and her husband, Joe of Coldwater and a special friend, Shelby Kendall of Coffeeville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Newton Ferguson; sister, Sarah Odessa Hubbard Pounds and brother-in-law, John Haven Pounds.
